About Angelena
I have had a long career, moving in a natural progression from one job to another, either as a teacher or an administrator of schools or human service agencies or as an entrepreneur. Starting when I was a small child I knew I liked to move around. My family would say, “You never stay still”, and it has been true, a restless soul. But perhaps it is we who are the restless and the malcontents that become the ones who make things happen, stir it up, shake loose.
When I discovered that all my love of movement could be more contained and focused, through Yoga, I felt like I had come home. In 1995 I became a Kripalu yoga instructor and by accident or fate was soon offered an opportunity to take over the ownership of a yoga studio. Beacon Light Yoga of Boston was born. For nine years I directed this Kripalu affiliated studio and did much of the teaching. I loved the work but began to dread the commute of an hour, and so Beacon Light closed its doors in February 2006, but not before introducing at least 2000 students to the joys of Yoga.
In July 2007 Kripalu certified me, after completing 500 hours of training, a professional level Kripalu yoga instructor.
What now? It took just over a year to shift my work to a broader scope, addressing healthful aging. As I begin to approach what may be considered chronologically old age, I think about what was promised to me. Somewhere long ago, I heard the elder years were called, “The Golden Years” and this period of time would be better than ever. I bought that dream. It is my intention to live it.
Knowing how to take good care of my self allows me to claim some authority in my position. All the information we need on how to slow down the aging process is readily available in books, articles and online. I am here to refine what aging can be about, make it palpable and even fun for you.
The NewAging Movement was created to share the wealth of wellness news and help individuals learn how to nurture themselves. After all, if we do not take good care of ourselves, who will?
